There were a few distinct moments when I remember starting to feel like I was really a mom –

The first time someone referred to my unborn baby as my son.

The moment the nurse laid him on my chest, just after he was born.

The first time he said anything resembling “ma ma”.

The hilarious moment I found poop on the floor in his playpen.

Every time he rests his forehead on me.

#momlife

It may have happened differently for you. It may have been the moment the pregnancy test finally read positive (I didn’t feel it then), when you saw your baby on a monitor, or when the adoption went through, and you got to see a picture of your child. It may have been as you welcomed foster children into your home, or when you got married, as your new stepchildren stood nearby.

There’s lots of different ways to become a mom, and lots of different ways to be a mom. But at the end of the day, life as we knew it changed forever in those moments.

Suddenly showers are necessary for sanity, not just hygiene. Food and other particles wind up on all your clothes, and you’re not quite sure how they got there. It takes an extra hour to get ready, because you also have to prepare a tiny person or a small army.

#MOMunity - the skirt tug

Welcome to the MOMunity, a group of women that honors all the mommas out there, who tirelessly take care of their littles day in and day out. It’s life at its messiest, unfiltered and imperfect, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Today, I’m inviting you to join the #MOMunity in one of the following ways:

  • Follow the MOMunity Pinterest board, featuring mommas and stories that relate to you, no matter how you mom.
  • Share your own pictures on Instagram with #MOMunity. My personal favorites will be shared on the blog and on the Pinterest page.
  • Share mommy moments, thoughts, encouragement and more on Twitter with #MOMunity.

We as mommas just relate. We all know how crazy/awesome/hilarious life can be with littles. I look forward to getting a glimpse of everyday life in your world, and sharing some of mine!

So when did you realize you were a momma? What moments made it real for you?

I love this! My daughter is four years old and my son is 10 months and I still have moments to this day where I just stop and think .. wow I’m their mother! The giggles from my daughter when we play together, my sons hand caressing my face as I nurse him, and when they both play together and randomly look over at me to see if I’m still there! I could go on! I love being a mama!

These are such sweet moments! I love when my little guy looks for me, or even better, when he just rests a hand on me to make sure I’m not going anywhere 😉 I guess even years down the line (I’m only at year one), you still can be amazed at being a mommy! Love it! Thanks for sharing.

Not to be dramatic, but… Everything changed when Not to be dramatic, but…
Everything changed when I started:

viewing stories of women in the scriptures with care and respect instead of making assumptions.

reading the Bible as God’s story, not morality tales about people.

recognizing that God cares about our wholeness and wellbeing, not perfect performance or self-improvement.

seeking depth and God’s withness over easy answers.

Does this feel like I’m reading your mail? (I’m not.) Stick around. Here we talk about rebuilding your faith and theology and Bible study without shame and shrinking ❤️

A turnaround story. This little detail now stands A turnaround story.

This little detail now stands out to me in a way I can’t ignore. God is in the business of drawing us near.

For Moses, the journey included miracles, facing down his own demons, and growing in trust and confidence.

What does the journey look like for you? In what ways has your trust and confidence in God grown?
Have you heard this story before? Have you ever he Have you heard this story before?
Have you ever heard this story preached before?

Just curious.

If you’re starting to question things you’ve always accepted as truth…and if your faith is expanding in uncomfortable but also undeniable ways…welcome. That’s kind of what we’re about here 🤣
