It’s 21 days in to 2019! I know I talk a lot about goals moving forward, but I also have found looking backward to be gratifying too. (By the way, if you haven’t yet, go claim your victories from 2018!)

So today I’m looking back at 2018 on What You Make It. In terms of growth (business or popularity-wise), I can’t say there has been a ton. But I am always surprised and touched by the times when you respond and connect with something I’ve written. Here are some of those posts from this year.

Mom Life

Stay-at-Home Moms: It’s Okay To Not Always Love Your Job – I don’t know if this one got that many shares or likes, but I re-read it and I love it, so I’m including it, okay?

12 Mom-Approved Holiday Gifts for Toddlers and Preschoolers – Want to give gifts to toddlers and preschoolers that won’t drive their parents crazy? You’re not the only one!

7 Ways to Be a More Playful Mom – Because adulting is hard, but it doesn’t mean you always have to function as a cranky lady.

Personal Growth / Inspiration

Let’s All Stop Putting Disclaimers on Ourselves – I think we can all relate to stating something nice about ourselves…with an added negative note. Like, “I like this picture…but do you see those wrinkles forming?” Whoa there.

The Modern Proverbs 31 Woman Series (Eagerness and Trustworthiness) – This year, we started digging deeper into Proverbs 31 in more focused Bible studies. These posts continue to be favorites, because I think we all are just a little curious about the woman in that chapter, what she’s like, and how she does it all.

When It Bothers You More Than You Thought – Because sometimes it does.

Marriage

Godly Wife Goals – Loving how many women want to be Godly wives! I want to be one too. This post talks about what the Bible says makes up a Godly wife.

Date Your Town Bingo – I haven’t always loved where I live. But exploring and trying new things has made a difference for me. Have you taken the Date Your Town Bingo challenge? I want to hear about it!

Lifestyle

Packing and Outfit Ideas for Thanksgiving – Just pretty proud of the outfits I put together in this post, and how you can really take a few elements and make them into a week’s worth of outfits.

Here’s What Happened When I Drank Apple Cider Vinegar for a Week – One of those “does that really work?” kinds of stories.

Outer Banks in the Off-Season – Tips for visiting OBX, NC in the off-season, and why you would love it.

And that’s all she wrote! Also, can I hear a YEAH for this new design, by 17th Avenue?

Did you have a favorite post from this year? Anything you’re looking to see more of in 2019?

This trend, but about what happens when you ditch This trend, but about what happens when you ditch performance and perfectionism for grace-filled growth.

This is not a to-do list, by the way. Not a resume or test or a title. (Not, “you are now proclaimed holy”.)

These are, I’ve found, holy experiences that get revealed as you take steps along this faith journey. This is what it looks like when you’re settling in to the transformation that happens when you lean in to the Spirit, follow Jesus, and get to know God better. A settling of the soul.

What kinda holy experiences have you encountered on your own unique journey with God?

Not to be dramatic, but… Everything changed when Not to be dramatic, but…
Everything changed when I started:

viewing stories of women in the scriptures with care and respect instead of making assumptions.

reading the Bible as God’s story, not morality tales about people.

recognizing that God cares about our wholeness and wellbeing, not perfect performance or self-improvement.

seeking depth and God’s withness over easy answers.

Does this feel like I’m reading your mail? (I’m not.) Stick around. Here we talk about rebuilding your faith and theology and Bible study without shame and shrinking ❤️

A turnaround story. This little detail now stands A turnaround story.

This little detail now stands out to me in a way I can’t ignore. God is in the business of drawing us near.

For Moses, the journey included miracles, facing down his own demons, and growing in trust and confidence.

What does the journey look like for you? In what ways has your trust and confidence in God grown?
