You know that feeling of diving in headfirst when you’re not entirely sure what you’re jumping into?
That’s the feeling I got when I started this blog. All I could see was a community of women who were taking up a spot on the internet to share their dreams, ideas, tips, and creativity. And I wanted to be part of it.
With this blog has come constant growth and re-evaluation. As the blogging world changes, and life changes, so does this space.
This weekend I’ve been doing some soul-searching, and getting inspired about what I want this blog to be, again. Here’s what I have discovered.
A New (Same) Mission
When I started What You Make It, it was all about taking advantage of the life I was in right now, ideal situation or not. I was newly married – that was the good part. But also I was figuring out who I was outside of college, finding a career (and even just a job), and living in a new-to-me place that I didn’t love.
This blog became part of my journey into making life an adventure, right where I was. I hoped to encourage other women who saw the highlight reels of social media and realized their lives were no less full of opportunity and value.
My mission hasn’t changed. But I feel like I’m honing in on it even more.
So here’s my goals for what I’m offering, and what I hope you find here – encouragement and inspiration for the following:
I’m Writing to You if…
I write a lot to wives and moms. Don’t get discouraged if that isn’t you! It’s just where I am in life.
But moreover, I’m writing to you if you ever feel purposeless, or worthless. If you want a life that’s more than just approval from people and validation from results. If you ever wish things were different, or YOU were different.
I’m writing to you if you’re in a stage of life that maybe feels mundane, or if you feel alone.
If you do daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly battle with yourself, your insecurities, your fears.
And I’m writing to you if you’re seeking MORE out of this life. More than just highlight reels and “what if’s”. Things like more joy, more purpose, more faith, more love, more wellness, more mindfulness.
If that’s the case, I’m writing to you. And I’m also writing to me. These aren’t things I have figured out. But I’m happy to share what I’m learning if it helps someone else feel like they’re not alone, and like there is hope and encouragement out there.

Encouraging and Empowering
I’m never quite sure where this blog will go. But I know for sure that what keeps me going with it is the comments and notes from you that say you relate, you connect, you’re getting something out of it, and you keep coming back.
Thank you for following me on this journey so far! As always, please feel free to reach out if you have comments or questions.
