amazon home finds that help our family function

February 3, 2020 · In: home, productivity, shopping

Playroom toy storage shelves and bins

I’m not entirely sure how people did parenthood before Amazon Prime. Some of our favorite and most useful items have been Amazon home finds.

It’s just become part of life. We notice we need something, we look it up on Amazon, and BAM! On our doorstep before we could pack up the kiddos in the car to go buy it somewhere. (I’m only kind of joking.) Beyond this point, affiliate links are included in this post.

Over the years, we’ve accumulated a list of things we’ve ordered and loved. And since it can feel a little overwhelming to navigate Amazon even through a simple search (the reviews! The features! The options!), I’m sharing some favorite Amazon home finds that make our family life a little more functional.

These items are tested and tried, and unsponsored by the brand. (Although, again, the following includes affiliate links, which allow me to earn advertising commission on items at no extra cost to you. This helps me keep the blog up and running, so thank you for clicking and purchasing!)

Storage Cubes

These are a more recent purchase, but they’re already proving to be durable and solid for packing in toys. I like that they fold flat and look nice.

Bed Frame

My husband is handy, but he’s not a fan of taking hours to put something together. So when this platform bed frame proved to be easy and fast to put together, he was practically jumping for joy. We love it and haven’t had any troubles, except a few stubbed toes as we navigated the new bed. The posts are right on the corner and in the middle – just takes some getting used to.

Night Lights

With two young kids wandering around the house, night lights are necessary. These come in a pack of multiples and automatically power down during the day.

Brown boots on textile entry carpet

Large Storage Bins

These are absolutely perfect for shoe or toy storage. They’re huge, look classy, and have a cinch top to keep everything in. We’ve had them for years and haven’t gone easy on them. They still look practically new.

Entry Rug

Another recent purchase, but loving it so far. The design of this is really pretty, and it is a great place to wipe your feet on your way in the door. It’s supposed to be easy to clean, too, although I haven’t needed to yet.

Dinner Set

Trendy and stylish, these are not. But I personally like these plain white plates and bowls – they’re timeless and chic. They have withstood drops and bangs and for the most part, everything we’ve had to throw at them. (And when they haven’t – they’re easy and inexpensive to replace.)

Shower curtain rings with double hooks from Amazon

Kids’ Water Bottles

We have finally found it – the perfect water bottle for our kids (after trying EVERYTHING). The straw options got icky fast, the lids that come off completely make a mess, others have broken and let us down. These are fabulous. These are so easy to operate and clean, with few leaks.

Wall Mail Organizer and Key Hooks

We’ve bought this one multiple times, and it’s a handy place to keep mail and keys close to the door.

Water Boiler and Warmer

This one was recent, and we are so happy with it! It has a locking dispenser and keeps water hot for when you want a cup of tea or coffee any time of day. It even swivels from side to side. It’ll make a great addition to a coffee bar for having people over.

Shower Curtain Rings

Now that I have these, I’m actually sad I wasted so much time with those stupid little plastic rings that tore up my nails. The double hooks make it easy to hang the shower curtain and liner, and the rings easily hang on your curtain rod. These are a must-have.

How about you?

What are some of your favorite Amazon home finds? What items (from anywhere) are impossible for you and your family to live without?

Those are our top recommendations, but I’ll keep updating this page with new winners.

This trend, but about what happens when you ditch This trend, but about what happens when you ditch performance and perfectionism for grace-filled growth.

This is not a to-do list, by the way. Not a resume or test or a title. (Not, “you are now proclaimed holy”.)

These are, I’ve found, holy experiences that get revealed as you take steps along this faith journey. This is what it looks like when you’re settling in to the transformation that happens when you lean in to the Spirit, follow Jesus, and get to know God better. A settling of the soul.

What kinda holy experiences have you encountered on your own unique journey with God?

Not to be dramatic, but… Everything changed when Not to be dramatic, but…
Everything changed when I started:

viewing stories of women in the scriptures with care and respect instead of making assumptions.

reading the Bible as God’s story, not morality tales about people.

recognizing that God cares about our wholeness and wellbeing, not perfect performance or self-improvement.

seeking depth and God’s withness over easy answers.

Does this feel like I’m reading your mail? (I’m not.) Stick around. Here we talk about rebuilding your faith and theology and Bible study without shame and shrinking ❤️

This little detail now stands out to me in a way I can’t ignore. God is in the business of drawing us near.

For Moses, the journey included miracles, facing down his own demons, and growing in trust and confidence.

What does the journey look like for you? In what ways has your trust and confidence in God grown?
