A little while ago, I was studying out God’s promises. Casey over at The Leaflet, who has been such a faithful blog friend, told me at the time I should write a post about it, and I never got to it. But with things being so unfortunately crazy at the moment, I’m thinking I need a re-visit. And I’m taking you with me.
*God’s promises about promises:
– 2 Corinthians 1:20 – “For no matter how many promises God has made, they are ‘Yes’ in Christ. And so through him the ‘Amen’ is spoken by us to the glory of God.”
– Psalm 145:13 – “Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures through all generations. The Lord is trustworthy in all his promises and faithful in all he does.“
– Deuteronomy 7:9 – “Know, therefore, that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments.”
– Joshua 23:14 – “…You know with all your heart and soul that not one of all the good promises the Lord your God gave you has failed. Every promise has been fulfilled, not one has failed.“
*God works for our good:
– Jeremiah 29:11 – “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'”
– Matthew 7:11 – “If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!”
– James 1:17 – “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.”
– Romans 8:28 – “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
– Lamentations 3:25 – “The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him.”
– Psalm 145:9 – “The Lord is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made.”
There is a lot more to come, but I hope that these scriptures are encouraging for you, whether you’re on top of the world, or you feel like you’re just barely hanging in there.
Oh, and if you would, please pray for me this week. It’s been a rough one.
