It’s March! How are those 2019 resolutions and goals going? Are you cringing right now? No judgment here.
I am not a very intentional person. I get big dreams and overarching goals. But when it comes to making them practical and following through – that’s just not my strength.
In December, I took a big step forward in being intentional.

I invested in the 2019 Cultivate What Matters Powersheets. (The annual planner is out of stock, but the six-month Powersheets are available.) And yes, it’s an investment. The year-long planners cost about $60. For a girl who doesn’t usually even make it through a typical planner for the year, that’s a lot of money to drop.
However I chose to do it because, from what I was hearing, this is the planner to get if you want to actually see things happen. And after year after year of getting to December and not having much to show for it, that sounded pretty great to me.
This isn’t your typical monthly or weekly planner.

It starts with a workbook that BREAKS IT ALL DOWN. Evaluating where you are right now, figuring out what you want and don’t want, what’s working well, and what isn’t. It has you identify your fears and insecurities, and where you see your self years down the road.
Honestly, I need to go back and review all of that. I need to remember where and why I started. Because I can already see growth that has happened just since December.
Next it breaks it down further into yearly goals, then actionable steps. Things you can start today, tomorrow, or next week.
And then, once you’re past the set-up, it reviews your progress monthly and quarterly.
How is it helping?

One of the biggest things I’ve seen with the Powersheets is to prioritize, and have the ability to say no to things that aren’t going to help me get to my goal. Sometimes I can believe that more options and more yeses are what’s best, but in reality, when I narrow it down, I get so much more accomplished.
Another thing is the grace. It leaves room for so much grace. Being able to let go of things that aren’t working, or postpone, and to move forward.
Finally, it’s helping me appreciate my victories, big and small, and the people helping me get there. When I’m not keeping track, many things happen to me, and so life moves forward. But with the intention-setting, I’m actually making things happen myself. It’s a big difference, and comes with results I can see.
Here’s what happened in February.
Here are some of the things I was able to make happen last month. Again, maybe these things would have happened either way. But I can identify and celebrate the victories so much more, because I can see them, and know the work I’ve put into them.
- Career: being featured on Today Parents (twice). It’s been a goal to pursue writing and gain experience by being shared on different parenting sites. A big victory!
- Personal: finish my most recent self-awareness book, Healing Grace by David Seamands. Now I’m onto a new one, The Gifts of Imperfection by Brené Brown.
- Family: make Valentine’s Day special. This year I had gifts for the boys, and a card and candy for my husband.
- Community: get the word out about our church’s Women’s Day. Instead of waiting until the last minute, I found time, and got the word out in a number of different ways.
- Blogging: finish my resource library for email subscribers. Definitely a victory! Also getting a weekly video out on Instagram TV. I haven’t missed a week this year.
- Physical: making healthy choices in eating. Minimizing carbs and sugar, and eating more protein and healthy fats.
Some goals I didn’t quite reach?
- Physical: getting to yoga class each week, drinking 80 oz of water a day, and getting 7-8 hours of sleep.
- Career: working on ebooks.
- Family: getting rid of unnecessary items at home.
The good news? I can have grace, let these things go, and try again next month.
How are your goals going? I can tell you that having the accountability of the Powersheets planner is helping me make this one of my most intentional years yet.

What a crazy-productive intentional month!!!! Way to go, Jenn!! $60 would be a lot for me to drop on a planner too, so it’s cool to hear how it’s working for you too!
