the nursery

November 20, 2014 · In: motherhood, relationships, uncategorized

I don’t know where it came from (probably Pinterest), but I really wanted to make our son’s nursery vintage airplane-themed, even before I knew his name.

My hubby surprised me by diving right in and buying a (replica) airplane propeller. We painted the walls gray and the ceiling sky blue with clouds. Friends contributed in different ways, too. One made a collage picture of an airplane, another made a quilt with WWII planes, and a third crocheted a little pilot’s cap. The ladies in my life even threw a vintage travel-themed baby shower!

I absolutely love how everything came together, and I hope he’ll love it someday when he’s older.

What a perfect nursery! One of my really close friends did a similar theme for her little boy's room. I think it is perfect!

Amazing. Jordan loves airplanes, and if/when we have a boy, I can see us totally making his room airplane themed. That propeller is AWESOME.

But seriously, how have you come to understand Naomi’s story? Does this change your perspective at all?

May we handle with care the stories of the women of the Bible. They were human, imperfect, courageous, creative, and faithful.

Mine didn’t. Actually what I found was… …th Mine didn’t. Actually what I found was…

…that I have had seasons of “deconstruction” my whole life: reassessing my faith and making my beliefs my own. Not my family’s, not my ministry leader’s, not my church’s.

It’s a continuing journey, and every time God has put me face to face with an even bigger chasm to cross.

But can I tell you another truth? It keeps resulting in expanded, more joyful, more solid ground.

My questions haven’t been the end of my faith. It’s all part of the journey of growing closer to God.

By the way, I’m Jenn. If you’re in the messy middle, stick around. Let’s talk more about finding a healing, evolving, expansive faith.

We have a small container of dirt on our porch. We have a small container of dirt on our porch.

Dirt, and the teeniest, tiniest strawberry seeds.

Sometimes it feels silly to keep watering that thing when there hasn’t even been a shoot of green. But we do.

If you’re still waiting to see what’s going to happen, keep watering. Leave a ❤️ or 💧 if this connects for you (or leave your own story of something growing, plant or otherwise).
