A life as a mom who works part-time from home is a beautiful life.
My favorite day looks like this:
I’ve gotten plenty of rest. I get time with God, a yoga workout and a shower in. Baby is happy and content most of the day and naps and eats on a regular routine. I’m wearing a cute outfit and make-up and jewelry. I’ve worked at least four hours and have gotten lots done. The house looks (pretty) clean. We get to take a walk in the afternoon. My hubby comes home and dinner is on the table, and I have a smile on my face, glad to see him and ask him about his day.
But let’s face it – these days are more common:
I wake up late, because we were up late the night before, either with a screaming baby or watching a movie (sometimes we do it to ourselves). I feed Baby and get him ready, then feed him solids, then try to play with him some.
By the time we get done with everything we need to do, it’s time for him to go to sleep, which is either super easy, or a struggle. I’m still in my pjs, without a shower, as I start on work for at least an hour, after which he usually wakes up. Or sometimes, I nap till he wakes up. Then we start round two of feeding, changing, playing and solids. At some point, I try to eat too. Usually I just grab handfuls of something as I go.
I get him to about the point of his second nap, and then pop him the carseat. I throw on the best outfit I can, and go to work. (Exercise for the day? What exercise?) I can get another 2-3 hours of work in, with breaks to feed and rock and move Baby from place to place when he gets bored.
We run to the grocery store on the way home to pick up the item I forgot last time I was out, which is a mess of finding a spot at the busiest time of the day at the store, hauling his carseat into the stroller, rushing past people at the store, and then getting everything and everyone into the car to get home.
I whip up the easiest dinner I can think of, usually having to stop to feed Baby again during this time, and by the time James gets home, I’m ready to hand him the baby and call it a night. I squeeze in some time to read my Bible and pretty much feel zoned out the rest of the night.
Every day is different. I never really know what to expect. Some days I have to take Baby with me to meetings, where 90% of the time, he is actually very happy and quiet, or just sleeps; but it can be a trial getting from place to place. Some days he is upset all day, and I just can’t seem to help him. Most days I’m tired and busy.
But it is a beautiful life. I get to snuggle with my baby in the mornings. We got to take a walk yesterday afternoon, and hopefully as the weather warms up, that will happen more and more. It’s a good thing for me that every day is different. I think I’d go crazy if every day was the same.
Is it perfect? No. Is it stressful and tiring? Yes. Is it amazing, and wonderful, and am I grateful for it? Absolutely.

It sounds like a crazy life, but definitely worth it.
