Welcome to my Small Shop Holiday Gift Guide 2020! This post includes some affiliate links – thank you for supporting my small business too.
If 2020 has convinced me of anything (actually it’s been a lot of things), it’s this:
It’s time to shop small – for the holidays and every day.
When you order from a small shop you actually give two gifts. One in support of a business owner who has poured their time, funds, and effort into their dream. And a unique and personal gift to a loved one that will be so appreciated.
This year has hit small shops the hardest. Let’s rally around them for the holiday season to give them a strong and supportive boost! Be sure to shop early to get gifts in time for the holidays.
Today I’m sharing some of my favorite small shops – all of them happen to be owned by amazing women!
Clothing
Bookshelf Tees
THE CUTEST SHIRTS for the bookworms in your life. They are witty and colorful and just fun. I preordered the You’ve Got Mail themed, “Don’t Cry Shopgirl” sweatshirt, and have the “Take a Look, It’s in a Book” tee (which after several months is still soft, little shrinkage if any, and no cracking in the print). They also have cute stickers that match their shirts, and tees for kiddos. TIP: their anniversary sale is this Friday, November 13th. You’re welcome.
Gracemade
An ethical and sustainable clothing company that allows women to express their personal style as well as their faith. I love their simple and chic designs (capsule wardrobe friendly!) and their empowering t-shirts. Click the link to automatically get a 15% off code applied to your order!
Gypsy Freedom
A socially responsible fashion boutique that hosts various sustainable brands in a “pop-up shop” type model. They have lovely accessories too. The owner, Cearesa, offers private shopping sessions in person in their boutique in Syracuse, and over the phone. (I was able to experience this process with her and love her personality and passion for what she does!)
Sonnet James
If you follow me on Instagram, you probably already know of my love for this brand. A single mom started the company with a mission of creating beautiful, functional, and washable clothes that encourage moms to play with their kids and still look good out and about. The Long Ribbed Skirt set is on my wishlist this year.
Tonlé
Here’s something you don’t see every day – a fashion brand that is ZERO waste – and also ethical, with fair pay and respect for all employees. They have classic designs that work well in a capsule wardrobe, as well as statement pieces. They’ve also recently started an “open closet” program where you can purchase gently used pieces from their line, and trade in the pieces you don’t wear anymore.
Vetta
Set around capsule wardrobes with sustainable pieces that you can mix, match, and even wear multiple ways. They have such pretty styles, colors and prints. Some of my favorites are the Oversized Sweater and the Tiered Wrap Dress.
Home
Laura Westbrook
Just stunning artwork that is inspired by appreciating meaningful moments in nature. Photo prints, fine art prints, and cards. My favorites are the beach sunset photo prints, which bring instant peace and relaxation.
LeneNicole Candle Co
Soy wax candles with luxurious scents to express your mind and mood. They come in lovely vessels you can reuse! The owner is so authentic and empowering.
Steady + Flight
An all-things-pretty company with the sweetest owner. They offer mainly positive and uplifting candles, mugs, a few paper products, and room scents. The candles are soy wax with essential oil scents, so no icky chemicals in your atmosphere. And the mugs are lovely and the perfect size.
Jewelry
ASH Jewelry Studio
Handmade geometric style jewelry that is simple and beautiful. Gold-filled, some with colorful porcelain designs. I got the Arc earrings as a birthday gift, and they came beautifully packaged, plus you can wear them multiple ways.
By Bay Jewelry
Polymer and brass earrings inspired by literary characters. (Perfect to go with a Bookshelf Tees shirt!) They come in an assortment of neutral-ish colors. I have the Scarlett earrings and they are some of my favorite earrings ever.
Lace and Pearls
Delicate, minimal jewelry staples lovingly made and packaged. They offer gold-filled and sterling silver options. I have the Michaela necklace in gold, and love that it’s something I can wear everyday.
Beauty
Primally Pure
One of my favorite beauty brands made with clean ingredients. I use their Gua Sha Stone for increased circulation to keep my skin looking fresh (which came with all the steps on how to use it). My friend raves about the baby balm, and I like their complexion mist toner too. Need help knowing where to start? Take their skin quiz to see their product recommendations, see my review of Primally Pure’s dry shampoo, and use my discount code JENN10 for 10% off!
Wellness
The Balanced Life Sisterhood
Not to pull a Peleton holiday commercial here (and trust me, this is way cheaper). But I think membership with the Balanced Life Sisterhood community would be an incredible gift for someone working on their personal self-care and wellness. It includes daily and on-demand Pilates workouts (often around 15 minutes!), healthy recipes and grocery lists, and a private Facebook community. You can read my review here – I started skeptically but ended up loving it and using it constantly.
Cultivate What Matters
Get your loved one off to a fantastic start for 2021 (and don’t we all need one?) with the 2021 PowerSheets – a goal planner that helps you create manageable steps toward your overarching goals for the year and beyond. I’m on my third year of PowerSheets and you can read my full review, but spoiler alert – they are a game changer for making resolutions that stick.
Faith and Inspirational
Daily Grace Co
Strikingly designed Bible studies, journals, pens, totes, and more with a goal of equipping disciples in the Word. I have their Marble Pen Set and one of their cute totes.
Morgan Harper Nichols
Stunning art full of wise and inspiring words. I love following Morgan’s pages for regular encouragement that always seems to hit home. Her shop includes art prints, calendars, mugs, journals, and her new book.
Well-Watered Women
Bible studies, journals, stationary, pens, mugs, and pretty apparel, all to build faith and keep your eyes lifted. Their Fruit of the Spirit floral shirt is one of my favorites.
Recommended by YOU!
I asked on my Instagram page (come follow along if you don’t already!) which small shops you love, and here’s what you shared with me:
Absynia Jewelry – Bohemian and minimal gold and stone jewelry of all kinds – stud and dangle earrings, simple and statement necklaces and bracelets. Definitely adding the rose quartz crescent earrings to my wish list! Thanks to Brandi for this recommendation!
Aquarian Thoughts – Delicate birthstone and gold-filled jewelry. The rings are perfect for stacking, and I love the hammered designs as well. Thanks to Laura for this recommendation!
Coaster This – Mugs, coasters, journals, and attire that feature inspirational and uplifting quotes in such beautiful designs. Thanks to Sara for this recommendation!
Designed by Ashley Scales – 90s Hip Hop and R+B inspired beautifully-packaged candles that are clean burning and handmade. They had me at 90s Hip Hop and R+B, to be honest. Thanks to Brandi for this recommendation!
Gathre – I can’t believe I forgot Gathre! They make beautiful leather goods – trademark playmats, yoga mats, tablecloths, and tapestries. We have two of the world map mats, and they are just lovely in person and hold up so well. Thanks to Toni for this recommendation!
Hanging Paper Co – Pretty banners, garlands, and bunting for every occasion. Their Christmas garlands, with hot cocoa mugs and buffalo print trees, are so fun for holiday decor. Thanks to Laura for this recommendation!
Misred Outfitters – Florida-based bohemian style fashion in beautiful colors and floral prints. Reminds me a lot of Anthropologie (without Anthro prices). Thanks to Stephanie for this recommendation!
Nordiska – Lovely Nordic-inspired clothing, books, housewares, and even more. A simple way to get and gift super hygge (re: comfortable and cozy) for the holidays. Thanks to Lauren for this recommendation!
